The Varsity Chargers had a tough day yesterday at The Bayou Club in Largo against Northside who hosted our match yesterday. Although we hung in there it turned out to be a day to focus of the experience of how to play through a mentally challenging day.

Week 1 Chargers Golf
Week one turned out to be a good start to the year. Although we didn't win our match against Northside on Thursday, we got our "competitive" feet wet and I believe we have the ability to have a great year. Led by Karim Olivers' 2 over par 38, the team shot 169 to loose by 3. It was a hard fought match that came down to the last match on the course. Here are the scores:

The Varsity Charger took on teams from all over the state on Saturday at the East Lake Invitational. The guys played a wet and moreover difficult Wentworth Country Club in Tarpon Springs that proved to be too much for all the teams as the low team shot 320. Grinding to the bitter end, the team shot 372. Andrew Heric was the low man of the day firing a 81 which in his own words, "could have been soo much better". Andrew, as well as the rest of the team, diplayed excellent poise and Marc Szasz gets the newly named "sportsman of the day" award for his positive attitude and overall demeanor throughtout the day.

Tryouts & Upcoming Season
We are getting geared up for another year of Chargers' Golf. Tryouts for this years' Varsity Golf Team will begin Tuesday, August 9, 2011 and will conclude on Wednesday, August 24, 2011. All students wishing to participate in tryouts should contact the Athletic Office to be sure all of the proper paperwork is completed and on file. Upon completion, give me or the staff at Feather Sound a call to check on available times to qualify at the following number: 727-572-6677. Please identify yourself as a Shorecrest student wishing to qualify for the team.
